Top 5 Early Game Power Options in All The Mods 10

The best early game power in All The Mods 10 is a Powah Furnator or a lava-wrapped Mekanism Heat Generator, both craftable within your first hour and both feeding a small Energy Cell. Add a Generator Galore tier ladder or a passive Powah Thermo Generator once you have copper and iron, and you will not need a reactor until mid-game.

Every tech mod in All The Mods 10 runs on FE, and the pack's own quest book (Basic Power chapter, "Early Game Power Options") points you at generators that are cheap rather than strong. This guide ranks the five early game power options that actually exist in ATM10 pack 8.1, with the output numbers taken from the server's config files rather than from memory. Rates below are per tick; Powah values are FE/t straight from powah.json5, Mekanism values are in Joules (ATM10's own rebalance notes state 1 RF = 2.5 J).

1. Powah Furnator (and Magmator)

Burns: any furnace fuel (coal, charcoal, planks, blaze rods). The Magmator is the same block but drinks lava instead.

Output on this server: the Starter Furnator makes 80 FE/t with a 20,000 FE buffer and pushes out 240 FE/t. Basic doubles that to 160 FE/t, Hardened is 400 FE/t and Blazing is 1,000 FE/t.

Why it is good early: the Starter tier needs no crystals at all, it accepts anything a furnace would, and Powah generators push power into adjacent blocks and cables on their own. A chest of charcoal from a tree farm keeps two of them running for hours. The Magmator is the better option once you have a lava source or a bucket-fed tank: lava is worth a lot of fuel ticks per bucket.

Upgrade to: Basic and Hardened tiers (Energized Crystals from the Energizing Orb), then the Powah Thermo Generator line or a Uraninite Reactor. The pack's own worldgen script generates uraninite ore in the Mining Dimension in large veins, so that is the place to stock up for the reactor.

2. Mekanism Heat Generator

Burns: solid fuel (active mode) or nothing at all when surrounded by lava (passive mode).

Output on this server: ATM10 rebalanced this block hard. The Heat Generator produces 800 J/t while burning fuel (the pack's Mekanism rebalance file notes it was raised from 200 J to 800 J). Passive generation is 30 J/t for every side touching lava, up to seven sides, plus a flat 100 J/t bonus in the Nether. Convert with 1 RF = 2.5 J and a fully lava-wrapped generator sits around 84 FE/t for free, while a fuel-burning one is around 320 FE/t.

Why it is good early: the recipe is just osmium, iron and a furnace-tier of parts, and the quest book's own tip is simple: place one lava source on top and let it flow over the sides. With cables connected first, it pays for itself immediately. The active mode is where the rebalance shines: 800 J/t from coal is a genuine early-game jump.

Upgrade to: Mekanism Solar Generators (150 J/t each, daytime only), the Bio-Generator (350 J/t from bio fuel), then Wind Generators placed as high as possible and eventually the Gas-Burning Generator on ethylene.

3. Coal Generators (Integrated Dynamics, Actually Additions, RFTools Power)

Burns: coal, charcoal and other furnace fuels.

Why it is good early: the quest book calls these "some of the easiest generators to make" and it is right. All three exist in the pack: the Integrated Dynamics Coal Generator, the Actually Additions Coal Generator and the RFTools Power Coal Generator. Each is a handful of iron, redstone and a furnace, and each automatically pushes power into adjacent blocks, so you can bolt one directly onto an Iron Furnace or a Powah Energy Cell with no cables at all. They are slow, but they are the answer when you need a machine running in the first fifteen minutes.

Upgrade to: the same mods' bigger options. Integrated Dynamics has the Energy Battery for storage, RFTools Power has Powercells and the Blazing Generator, and Actually Additions has the Oil Generator and the Leaf Generator (300 CF per leaf eaten in a 7x7x7 area, per the server config).

4. Generator Galore tier ladder

Burns: solid fuel for the metal tiers; food (Culinary), lava-type fluids (Magmatic), honey, potions, enchanted books and ender pearls for the specialist ones.

Output on this server: the config chains the solid-fuel tiers Copper, Iron, Gold, Diamond, then Obsidian or Emerald, then Netherite and Nether Star, with the generation rate doubling at each of the first four steps (8, 16, 32, 64 in config units) and jumping to 256 at Emerald. Most tiers also have 8x and 64x variants, and on this server those variants burn fuel faster too (increasedConsumption is on).

Why it is good early: the Copper Generator costs copper ingots, which ATM10 hands out by the stack. Because every tier is crafted from the previous one, nothing you build is wasted: your Copper Generator becomes your Iron Generator. The Culinary Generator is worth a look as soon as you have a Farmer's Delight kitchen going, since it turns surplus food into FE.

Upgrade to: the Diamond and Emerald tiers, or sidestep into the Magmatic Generator (40 per tick in config units, on lava) once you have a lava supply.

5. Passive: Powah Thermo Generator and Solar Panel

Needs: a heat source underneath (lava or magma blocks) and a little water for the Thermo Generator; daylight for the Solar Panel.

Output on this server: the Starter Thermo Generator makes 20 FE/t, Basic 40, Hardened 75, Blazing 150 and Nitro 1,750. The Starter Solar Panel makes 40 FE/t in daylight, Basic 120, Hardened 400 and Blazing 1,500.

Why it is good early: neither consumes anything. Park a Thermo Generator on a magma block and forget it exists. The numbers look small, but four Starter Thermo Generators around a lava pool match a Furnator without ever needing fuel, and they keep your Energy Cell topped up while you are away exploring. Solar is the same idea for surface bases.

Upgrade to: higher Powah tiers. The quest book's mid-game chapter says it outright: "Upgrade your Thermo Generators to Nitro", and at 1,750 FE/t each that stays relevant deep into the pack.

Store it and move it

Whatever you pick, put a buffer between generation and machines. The Powah Energy Cell is the early answer, Mekanism Energy Cubes and RFTools Powercells come next, and Flux Networks handles wireless transfer later. For cables, Pipez energy pipes and Mekanism Universal Cables are both in the pack and both connect to everything listed above.

VYPR tip: the ATM10 map was reset fresh on 30 August 2026, so lava lakes and surface coal near spawn are untouched. Use /rtp (FTB Essentials, 10-minute cooldown, lands 500 to 25,000 blocks out) to find your own lava lake, then claim it with FTB Chunks before you build the Heat Generator on it. Teams get 500 claimed chunks and 25 force-loaded chunks on this server, and a force-loaded generator keeps charging while you are offline.

Questions

What is the easiest power source in ATM10?

A Starter Powah Furnator or one of the coal generators (Integrated Dynamics, Actually Additions or RFTools Power). All burn ordinary furnace fuel, need no crystals or rare metals, and push power straight into neighbouring blocks.

Is the Mekanism Heat Generator worth it in ATM10?

Yes. The pack's Mekanism rebalance raises its active output from 200 J/t to 800 J/t, and passive lava mode adds 30 J/t per lava-touching side. Wrap it in lava and it produces power for free.

What should I upgrade to after early game power?
